Consideration of the claims to be brought before the Railways Industrial Tribunal was the main business of the annual conference of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute, which concluded yesterday. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. M. J. Forde (Wellington); vice-presidents, Messrs. J. W. Shepherd (Auckland) and P. E. Islip (Tunaru); treasurer, Mr. G. R. Wilson (Wellington); executive, Messrs. A F. Gilmour, J. S. Lynch, C. E. F. Cunningham, and W. Mullins (traffic) B. Tangney (mair onance), and W. J. Wilson (stores), all of Wellington branch, workshops and locomotive running representatives will be appointed toy the executives. . Mr. M. J. Forde was reappointed editor of the "Advocate," the official organ, of the institute. _,Life membership was conferred upon Mr. V R. J. Stanley, the retiring general secretary, and Mr. E. Casey* formerly General Manager of Railways.
