MR. EDWARD G. BRIDGENS

RA; - v AUCKLAND, This Day. lne death has occurred of Mr. Edward G. Bridgens, aged 50, a widelyknown Auckland business man and sportsman. He was a member of the footwear industrial plan committee and at one time was president of the New Zealand Footwear Manufacturers' Federation. He was elected president of the Auckland Trotting Club in 1937, and the splendid progress made by the since since then is largely attributed to him. He represented Auckland on the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Association and was one of the founders of the Auckland Owners' and Breeders' Association. He raced many trotters on his own account and a number of others in partnership. He was part owner of Josedale Grattan, the 1941 New Zealand Trotting Cup winner.
