OBITUARY
MRS. D. W. CAMPBELL.
Mrs. Susan Esther Campbell, whose df ath occurred recently, was the wife ot . Mr- Daniel Wallace Campbell and second daughter of the late Mr. George Baker, builder. Like • fa.ther> she was born in Wellington and resided here all her lite. Reuben Avenue, in Brooklyn known to early pioneers as Baker's Hill, was named after Mrs. Campbell's grandparents. Mrs. Campbell will be greatly missed by many friends and also by a number of patriotic societies, including the Red Cross, Air Force Relations, and Wellington Metropolitan Patriotic Committee, with which she has been associated since the outbreak of war The day before Mrs. Campbell's death the Mayoress, Mrs. Appleton, wrote her a letter thanking her for the splendid work she had done for the Patriotic Committee over the past years "I understand." said Mrs. Appleton, "that you learned to knit at the commencement of this war, and judging by the quality and quantity of the work done you are to be congratulated ut>on your achievement." Mrs. Campbell had knitted 305 balaclavas, 20 pullovers, 32 scarves and 43 flying jerseys, a total of 400 garments Besides her husband, Mrs. Campbell leaves three sons, Ernie, Stan and Bert.
