HORSES AT AWAPUNI (Special to "The Post.")

PALMERSTON N., This Day. The going was soft at Awapuni on Tuesday morning, but it dried out a lot on Wednesday and it was hoped that it would be in perfect order yesterday for horses with engagements at Wanganui. Steady rain set in on Wednesday night, however, and upset all calculations, for the tracks were sloppy, with casual water everywhere, when work commenced yesterday. The flags were wide out on the .course proper, and the only horses allowed there were the Wanganui candidates. Very few trials were instructive, most of the horses being kept in restraint except for the last furlong. H. Dulieu's lot were among the first to work, but absentees were those which raced at Hawera. They worked earlier at WanganuL

Subdued's young brother (W. J. Broughton) sprinted three furlongs
