THURSDAY'S RAIDS

ASSAULT ON AIRFIELDS

LONDON, Sept. 3

Flying ' Fortresses, escorted by Thunderbolts, attacked enemy airfields at Mardyck and Denain, in France, late yesterday. Marauders, R.A.F. Bostons, Mitchells, and Venturas bombed targets in Pas-de-Calais. Other Marauders attacked a power-station at Mazingarbe. Bostons attacked marshalling yards at Serqueux, flying so low that' they felt the blast of their bombs.

Good bombing was observed on aU targets. R.A.F., Dominion, and Allied Spitfires escorted the light and medium bombers.

Four enemy aircraft were destroyed by one Fortress and three by Spitfires. From these operations one light bomber, one medium bomber, and two fighters are missing.
