AIR WAR GOES ON
NAZI EUROPE BOMBED
PARIS PLANTS ATTACKED
LONDON, September 3. The Allied mass air assault on German-occupied Europe was carried a stage further today when United States bombers heavily attacked factories and airfields in the Paris area. They were escorted by a large number of Allied fighters. The factories bombed were on the outskirts and in the northwest of Paris. Other American Fortresses and Marauders attacked five airfields in northern France.
The Fortresses that attacked the factories in the Paris area met with heavy opposition, and shot down 23 enemy fighters. Other Allied aircraft made covering sweeps. Six enemy fighters were destroyed and eight heavy bombers and two of our fighters are missing from the morning's operations.
