WAR ANNIVERSARY
CHANGED GERMAN TUNE
LONDON, September 2.
In m\arked contrast to the previous anniversaries, the German radio stations all day yesterday did not mention the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the war. In previous years the German network worked full blast with special talks, feature programmes, and martial music, but yesterday's talks were confined to informing the German people of the hard necessity of the retreats in Russia and bolstering morale against the Allied bombings, while solemn music predominated.
