'■, There was only a : - small yarding of store sheep,, and'with the improvement in the weather there was a strong demand for all classes. Fat sheep quality" was; : good throughout, specially in the case of the sheep from the southern districts. Competition was keen from, the outset. Best price for ewes was 43s Id, which ranged from 39s lOd to that figure. The highest prices for wethers was 53s Id. The first'shorn wethers sold at 30s lOd to 33s Id. ; : The entry of fat cattle was smaller than usual, comprising 426 head, against 534 last week. The dearest market of the year was recorded, the advance on last week's prices being up to 35s a head for specially choice beef. Quite- a proportion/of this made up to 60s per 1001b. Good beef made from 53s to 575, • ordinary 355. WANGANUI, September 1. Freeman K. Jackson and Co. report fat sheep rates firm on last week. Store sheep had llttl* inquiry. The store cattle were confined to boner cows. Porkers were at late rates with a keen sale for good weaners.
