"I will fine you Is, without costs— don't do it next Anzac Day," said Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate's '■ Court yesterday to Harold Vincent Potter, who pleaded guilty to failing to pay his fare on a tram. Sub-Inspector L. Capp said that Potter boarded the tram on Anzac Day and offered 2d for one section. The fare on that day was 3d, and he refused to pay the extra penny, although lie was asked by the conductor, an inspector, and a constable. "It was Anzac Day, and I am a returned soldier, and about five of us are left out of the old battalion who congregate every Anzac Day," said Potter. "Of course, we .have a few beers, and I thought I was being taken I down."
