KARORI EX-SOLDIERS
R.S.A. AUXILIARY WORK
Reports concerning the widening scope of the activity of the Karori R.S.A. were presented at this week's meeting of the Auxiliary committee. These included details of the register being compiled of those from Karori, Northland, and Makara who were serving with the Forces in the present war. The list included the names of almost 120 men from the district now on service overseas. Plans were completed for the forwarding of gifts to those men.
Numerous functions under the auspices of the Auxiliary included card evenings, proceeds from which were being devoted to patriotic purposes. Flag bridge evenings had been popular, and in this connection it was reported that the holiday last Monday necessitated a postponement of the bridge night until next Monday. Dances, also held in the Returned Soldiers' Hall, had been successful, and the arrangement for another to be held next Saturday was confirmed.
Keen appreciation was expressed of the practical interest shown by the Karori Progressive Association in the R.S.A. work, and thanks were expressed for a generous donation from that organisation.
Advice having been received that Sergeant Stuart McDonald, of Karori, was reported missing, believed killed, on R.A.F. operations, a motion of sympathy with the parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. McDonald, in their anxiety was expressed. Two brothers of Sergeant McDonald are serving with the Second N.Z.E.F.
