BLOCKING THE CHANNEL

NEW MINEFIELD

WARNING TO SHIPPING

LONDON, November 1.

The British Admiralty announced tonight that mines have been laid from the Scilly Isles to a point near the Spanish border in the Bay of Biscay. The effect of the new minefield is to block the English Channel and a great part of the Bay of Biscay to shipping. British Allied and neutral ships have been warned to seek instructions from British Consular representatives if they are approaching the English Channel.
