According to information from the Dodecanese Islands, British warships shelled the island of Scarpanta, destroying the.wireless station and barracks. The Italians were surprised while sleepiing. It is stated that only 200 of 700 who were under fire escaped. The dead were hurriedly buried in a ditch.

The Moscow newspaper "Red Star" states that the British Navy prevented Italian landings at Crete and Corfu.
