LONDON SCOTTISH
OLD COMRADES MEET
The splendid Great War record of the London Scottish Territorial Regiment was recalled by speakers at the annual Hallowe'en reunion of the London Scottish Old Comrades' Association, New Zealand (Wellington Area), last night. Sergeant E. G. Hewitt, now of the R.N.Z.A.F., presided.
Proposing the health of the regiment, the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., said that on Hallowe'en, 1914, the regiment had the honour of being the first full Territorial regiment to be thrown into action alongside Regular troops. The toast was replied to by Sergeant Hewitt.
The toast of the Navy was proposed by Mr. Tom Chapman and replied to by Captain- A. B. Fanshaw, who paid a tribute to the work of the Merchant Service.: •' \ ■ ■ ■.
•Replying ;to the toast of the R,N.Z.A.F,. Wing Commander E. G. Olsen said he felt that in the near future greater responsibilities would be placed on the three Services, and he felt they would repay in good measure the trust placed in them. The toast to the Army was proposed by Private George Hazelwood, and replied to by Colonel L. G. Goss.
