FARMER'S GIFT

DANNEVIRKE, October 16.
At the annual breeders' sale of Polled Angus bulls today the champion bull, offered on behalf of Mr. D. G. Grant, Mangatoro, Dannevirke, was sold for 800 guineas. The purchaser was Mrs. J. May, Matapihi, Waipawa. The proceeds have been donated by Mr. Grant to the London Distress Fund.
A yearling bull sold by Mr.. Grant realised 275 guineas and a yearling bull sold by Mr. J. E. Hewitt made 240 guineas.
X was agreed by the Wellington Acclimatisation' Society last night to pay £1 Us 3d to Master Edward Raison, of Greytown, for 125 hedgehog snouts. The hedgehogs were all caught in 20 acres of rushes with the help of two fox terrier*,
