OBITUARY
MR. L. G. HILL
The death occurred on Sunday after a fairly long illness of Mr. Leslie Gerald Hill, secretary of the Dunedin Jockey Club for the past thirteen and a half years, says a Dunedin Press Association message. He was the son of Mr. Samuel Hill, formerly Government Valuer, Taranaki, and was educated at the New Plymouth Boys' High School. On his return from the war. in 1918 he went to Whangarei, where he was appointed secretary of the local racing club, retaining that position till 1927, when he went to Dunedin. As a young" man he was a prominent footballer, and in 1914 played full-back for the Taranaki team which captured the R^nfurly Shield from Auckland. He was a member of the Kaituna Bowling, Club in Dunedin, and also the St. Clair Golf Club, as well as being a member of the executive of the R.S.A. He was unmarried.
