MEASLES IN CAMPS

PRACTICALLY ABATED

As far as the Army is concerned the measles epidemic has practically abated in the Central Military District. The various camps where Territorial units are undergoing continuous training all report small sick lists, and yesterday the temporary racecourse hospital at Trentham, which receives all cases from Trentham Camp and all Army and Air Force establishments in the Wellington and Hutt Valley area, had only eleven cases of measles and 23 cases of mild influenza.

Very few of these cases were from the 4th Reinforcements in Trentham Mobilisation Camp. So far they have a good sickness record.

A suggestion that residents in New Zealand be permitted to "adopt" a particular trawler or minesweeper for the purpose of supplying the crew with comforts has not been found practicable, states a report issued by the New Zealand Navy League, which adds that naval policy prevents the idea being adopted.
