MR. ANDREW DUNCAN

The death occurred suddenly on Saturday of Mr. Andrew Duncan, at the age of 67. Mr. Duncan, who was a well-known figure in Blenheim, had resided there since 1912. He took a prominent part in local body affairs.
Mr. Duncan was a son of the .late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Duncan, of Christchureh. He was articled to a firm of solicitors in Christchureh. but after a few years he acquired a horse transport business in Auckland and Hater moved to Rotorua. In 1912 he jcame to Blenheim, where he joined I the firm ofMcCallum and Mills. He [remained in.this employment until the I Great War broke out, when he enlisted and went overseas. On his return to Blenheim he entered into partnership with the late Mr. F. H. Merrie in land and estate business. In 1931 the business was disposed of to Mr. Duncan's son, Mr. D. L. Duncan, and Mr. F. Mogridge. Previously the late Mr. Duncan had purchased the Marlborough I Brick and Pipe Works, and he carried 'on this business until his death.
Mr. Duncan was a keen bowler andwasa member of the Blenheim Bowling Club. He served for three years on the Blenheim Borough Council, and for some time he was secretary of the Marlborough Patriotic Association. He was also a past president of the Marlborough Returned Soldiers' Association.
Mr. Duncan married Miss Adeline Brown, of Christchureh, in 1895, and there were four sons. He was predeceased by his wife in 1931 and by. two sons. The surviving sons are Messrs. D. L. Duncan and A. N. Duncan. In 1934 Mr. Duncan married Mrs. H. Gilmore, of Farnham.
