WELLINGTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
For the second concert of its 1940 season, to be held in the' Town Hall tomox-row at/8 p.m., in the presence of the Governor-General and Lady Galway, the Wellington Symphony Orchestra has been fortunate in that it has again secured Mr. Andersen Tyrer to assist by playing the piano concertos included in the programme. ' The Wellington Symphony Orchestra will be augmented by members of the National Broadcasting Service String Orchestra —leader, Mr, Vincent Aspey. The programme will open with Allegro Con I'uoc'o from Symphony No. 4 in F Minor by Tschaikowsky, followed by "Serenade Espagnole," by Glazounov, the 'first half closing with the Concerto in C Minor for pianoforte and orchestra by Rachmaninoff, Mr. Andersen ,Tyi«er playing with the Wellington 'Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Leon de Mauny. The other concerto, that in A Minor by Grieg, also played 'by Mr. Andersen Tyrer with the orchestra, closes the second half of the programme, which includes also the overture "William Tell," by Rossini, and two pieces from the Peer Gynt Suite, by Grieg. For the two concertos, Mr. Maurice Clare will be the leader of the orchestra.
