JOINT DEFENCE
CANADA AND U.S.A,
DEFINITE PLAN LAID DOWN
LONDON, October 4.
The Canadian-American Joint Defence Board has announced that a definite defence plan has been decided upon to cover any threat of attack as well as the possibility of actual attack itself.
Thte chairman of the Canadian section said afterwards, "We have recommended steps which in our view should be taken immediately in order that the responsibility to be discharged can be effected without delay." Mr. F. La Guardia, the American chairman, said that the board's recommendations would take effect as soon as the details of the United States leasing of British bases was completed. Each country, he added, was to contribute to the defence of the other. In Washington President Roosevelt said that consultations between the United States and officials of Latin America on defence problems had been going on for months.
