BRITISH STOCK IN DEMAND
Eight British-bred yearlings brought top prices and an aggregate return of £10,600 at the famous Saratoga (U.S.A.) yearling sales, which lasted about a fortnight in August. Fiftyfour yearlings realised £41,710, so that the average of the eight leading lots was £1325, against £772 for the larger number. Top price was £3200, brought by a chestnut son of Hyperion and Gwyniad, the successful bidders being Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lunger, Delaware. A bay colt by Bahram from Quick Action, bought by Mr. W. P. Crysler, cost £1600. Mr. Crysler was one of the syndicate which purchased Barham for £40,000.
