ISLAND BAY

At a meeting convened by the Returned Soldiers' Association and the Ratepayers' Association, held in Island Bay recently, the following committee was set up in connection with the Home Guard:—Messrs: P. J. Doogari (chairman), B. O'Brien, D. G. Gemmell, R. Briggs, H. Alexander, O. G. Johnson, D. Craig, S. Anton, T. Biddis. A shop has been secured on The Parade, Island Bay, through the good offices of the New Zealand Investment, Mortgage, and Deposit Company, Ltd., and will be a depot for enrolment and swear-ing-in of recruits.
