POSITION IN DUNEDIN
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, October 3,
Though one of the largest attendances of milk venders and venders-sup-pliers in Dunedin expressed willingness at a meeting, on July 10 to cooperate with the Government .in a zoning scheme for the city, no parogress has been made in the matter, and it is doubtful if any developments will occur in the near future.
At a meeting on July 10 a. .Government representative addressed those present, and a resolution was adopted urging the Government to* f,t>rm a Milk Board in Dunedin. Two representatives of the milk vende/rs and pro-ducer-venders were appointed. Representations were made to. the Government for the necessary legislation to be passed, and in reply a cogpy of the regulations was received.
No help has yet been given by the Government, and, apaut from the replyreceived, on August _2 that the Oil Fuel Controller and the Minister of Supply had the matter under consideration, no advice has been received by the Milk Venders' Association.
For a considerable period venders have been willing to co-operate in a zoning scheme, to:save petrol, but they feel there is not' the same willingness on the part of the Government.
