THE FINAL CONCERT
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Ferns and pale pink geraniums were massed in front of the stage in the Town Hall last nigM for the final concert given by the Wellington Symphony Orchestra. The significance of the French; Tricolour which was arranged oh one1 side of the organ loft, and the Union Jack on the other, was1 not lost on the large audience which was united by bonds of patriotism as well as by the love of good music. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral Viscount Galway, who is patron, was unable to be present. The executive's president, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, welcomed Lady Galway, who was presented with a lovely bouquet of red and white; roses, blue delphiniums, and cornflowers tied with matching ribbons. Her Excellency, who was wearing a slim-fitting gown of midnight blue lace on a white ground, and an Indian lamb coat on the lapel of which was pinned a spray of pink spider orchids, was attended by Miss Simpson. The official party; also included Lady Myers,' Mrs. D. 7A. Ewen, Sir Harry Batterbee and Miss Isabel Biggar, M. and Mme.,,A. Pouquet, Mr. and Mrs. M./F. Vigevino, Dr. and Signora d'Acunzo, M. and Mme. Armand Nihotte, Dr. and Mrs..W. Young, Mr and Mrs. L. C. Pinkerton, Dr. and Mrs. W. Schmid. Mr. and Mrs. J. W- Andrews, Mr. and Mrs:. J. W. Heenan, Mr. and Mrs; W. Page, Mr. and Mrs. Temple White, and Mr. Pripp.
