Banking statistics issued by the Commonwealth Statistician (Dr. Roland Wilson) disclose that during the September quarter the average assets of Cheque paying banks was £ 484,748.000 and liabilities £408.441,000. This represents an increase of £21,420,000 in assets and £3,709,000 in liabilities compared with 12 months previously.
