A BUSY NIGHT
ENJOYABLE HOURS SPENT
The mild weather experienced on Saturday night attracted thousands of people out of doors, and the Exhibition grounds and buildings were well filled from an early hour until late in the night. Many of the visitors spent the evening in alternate visits to exhibits in the courts and walk* through the grounds, where the lights made a pleasing spectacle. All the courts were well attended but the majority of them remained clear enough to give all visitors an excellent opportunity to view the exhibits. The Australian pavilion and the Government and Dominion courts were again the most popular, and these were well filled throughout the evening, some of the exhibits being difficult to see at times.. The. court devoted to general exhibits and souvenir stalls was also crowded in certain places and hundreds of women visited the women's section. 'Ay The crowds were orderly and the police and attendants had an easy task. Ambulance workers also appeared to be haying an un worried time. POPULAR ATTRACTIONS. The amusement park attracted a large proportion of the visitors throughout the evening and the interest of those inside the buildings was mainly attracted by stalls where manufacturing activities were in progress or mechanical devices were displayed. The three sections displaying equipment of the defence forces again received many visitors, and the sailors, soldiers, and airmen in attendance had a busy time explaining the uses of the machines and weapons. A fair percentage of the visitors was composed of children who showed a keen interest in all sections of the Exhibition and an aptitude for spending their spare pennies. Girls from one of the city orphanages were shown around the building during the evening and attracted a great deal of attention by their -ieat appearance and happy faces. The youngest was a tiny tot who had to. be carried most of the way, but she showed evidence of as much enjoyment as the older girls, particularly when they were conducted to an ice-cream stall. Although traffic to and from the Exhibition was heavy during the evening it was fairly well spread and did not present any difficulties.
