KILLED WHILE NIGHT
FLYING
SON OF COLONEL BEERE
A cable message was received in Wellington today stating that. FlightOfficer lan St. John Beere, of the 21st Bomber Squadron, Royal Air Force, was killed while night flying on "November 8, but where was not given.
Flight-Officer Beere, who was 26 years "of age, was the only son of
Colonel R. St. J. Beere, D.5.0., of the firm of O. and R. Beere and Company, solicitors, Wellington; and of Mrs. Beere, who is doing war work at a hospital in Brischam, Devon. He was educated at Croydon School (Day's Bay), Wellesley College, Wanganui Collegiate School, and at the Ruakura Training Farm, Hamilton, where he won a gold medal for the best year's work among the students attending. He was fond of all kinds of sport, especially boxing. After completing his course at Ruakura some three years ago he left on a trip to England, and en route decided to join the Royal Air Force. He was immediately accepted, and remained with the R.A.F. He was married at Leconfield Parish Church, Beverley, Yorkshire, on September 13, to Dorothy Elizabeth Gelling, R.1.8.A., younger daughter of the late John Alexander Gelling, and Mrs. Gelling, 8 Somerset Road, Douglas, Isle of Man. I
