APPARENT DECLINE

REBEL MOVEMENTS IN

PALESTINE

(British Official Wireless.)

RUGBY, July 27

Reports from Palestine show that there are encouraging symptoms of a decline in the rebel movements.

During the first fortnight of July, 34 rifles and other arms and ammunition were voluntarily surrendered by villagers, and in the same period British troops captured 200 rifles, 40 pistols, 16 shot-guns, and a large quantity of ammunition.

No rebel leaders of any importance are now in Palestine. The few armed gangs which still remain have little local backing, and the "national" aspect of the rebel movement is declining.
