DICK JOHNSON'S PAIR

Ned Cuttle and Majority, Winter Cup candidates, were galloped at New Plymouth on Thursday morning, the flags on the course proper being out about, 30ft. Majority worked over a mile, increasing the pace to run the last six furlongs in lmin 26sec. He will never extend himself without a companion. After taking 29sec for the first quarter, Ned Cuttle completed seven furlongs in lmin 38 l-ssec. He moved freely throughout. These gallopers will not go south until the end of next week. They are freely engaged at the Grand National Meeting and as yet no certainty exists as to what races they will contest. Though the logical thing would seem to be for Majority to run in the first day's sprint, he may, nevertheless, yet be the stable's Cup proposition.
