Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Mcllraith will leave Wellington on Monday to make their home in Auckland. Mrs. H. B. Hawthorn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Davidson, Kelbum. with her husband, Mr. H. B. Hawthorn, 8.A., M.Sc:, and family have left Hono lulu for Yale University, where Mr Hawthorn has been awarded a Car negie Fellowship; and will be, attached ■to the Department of Race Relations. Both Mr- and Mrs. Hawthorn are specially interested in Maori educational problems and before their dapartu. ' for Honolulu, where Mr. Hawthorn recently concluded a year at the Univer-1 sity of Hawaii (he held a Research Fellowship in Anthropology), were teaching at northern Maori schools. Both studied at Victoria, University College. 'c Miss Jean Clark, Christchurch, secretary- of the Christchurch branch of -the Nelson College Old Girls' Association,-- who visited Wellington for the Nelson College ball last njght, will leave this evening on her return south. Mrs. F. E. Reading and Miss Betty Reading, Tinakori Road, who have been visiting Timaru, are now the guests of Sir John Sinclair, Dunedin. Miss H. Searell, Christchurch, has arrived in Wellington to stay with Mrs. Featherstone, Ngaio. / Mrs. J. E. Armstrong, Mount Clair, Akaroa, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. F. Smith, Lower Hutt. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hall, Ha warden, will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Derick Gould, Fendalton, Chf istchurch, L"dr Grand National week-. Mile. Francine Tollon, winner of the French women's native golf champion ship in 1933 and 1935, and of the Belgian . women's open : championship in 1936, is engaged to be married to the Prince of the Moskowa, a descendant of Marshal Ney. Mrs. T. S. Oldliam, Wanganui, is visiting Wellington and is staying at the Hotel St. George. Mrs. J. Miller' (Invercargill), Mrs. I. W, B. Roy (New Plymouth), Miss M. Briggs (Nelson), and IVlrs. J. Gibson (Ashburton)' are staying at the Empire HoteL
