NAPIER PRICES FIRM ( (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, July 28. Prices were firm on recent quotations at the winter sale of crutchings and oddments of wool held in Napier this afternoon. A large and representative bench of buyers attended, and spirited bidding was experienced throughout.

Some 3200 bales were offered, the majority being sold under the hammer! Buying was well distributed among Australia. Bi'adford, and the Continent. New Zealand representatives were comparatively quiet. The bulk of the crutchings was rather shorter and a shade finer than at last year's cleaving sale, but the general condition was much the same. ■ A few lines of fleece also sold well; in some cases prices were 2d to 3d higher than at the close of the last selling season. _ . . The range of prices is:—-Supers, lOd to 11M; good, 83d to 93d; average, 8d to 85d; inferior. 6£d to 7Ad; light seedy, Bid to 9Jd; seedy, 6fd to 7Jd; heavy seedy, 4£d to 6d, good crossbred, 12d to 13Jd; "average, lOd to llid; inferior, 7£d to 9d. The potato market in Christchurch still shows a firming tendency today's quotations to growers being £15 to £15 10s a ton, according to station and delivery. Though two exceptionally large shipments comprising more than 20.000 sacks have gone to the North Island in the last two weeks, the demand from there is still keen. Another shipment will be made about the middle of next week. There is still no activity in small seeds trade and the other markets are unchanged.
