July 27 (1939) 4.683-16 March 1 (1938) 5.02 London on New York on August 2, 1938, was quoted at-4303 dollars to £1 sterling, but during the European crisis on September 28 the rate was 4.63 and during October it varied between 4 78J and 4.75 3-8 The range for 1939 was 4.62| (January 4) to 4.69$ (February 15); since then the rate has been relatively constant at from 4 68 1-8 to 4.68f.
