PALMERSTON NORTH SALE
Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Palmerston North, report on their monthly auction sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, and tallow, as follows:— A large catalogue was offered to a full bench of buyers and competition was keen. Values for wool and sheepskins advanced,' but hides and tallow were on a par. t Wool values were up from -Jd to Jd per lb. For sheepskins, there was a rise in values of id to id per lb. Hides were on a par, while calfskins advanced id to id per lb. The tallow market was still quiet. Range of values:— Wool: Crossbred, 7fd to 83d; dead, 6£d to 7£d; crutchings Ist, 7-Jd to 8d; crutchings, 2nd, 6|d to 7£d; pieces,, to s|d; locks and pieces, to 3Jd. Sheepskins: Lambs, 6|d to 7gd; fine Ist, B|d to 9£d; fine hoggets, 7£d to B|d; hoggets, 7§d to B£d; three-quarter-full wools, Bid to 9-ld; quarter-half wools, 7|d to B|d; crossbred damaged, 6|d to 7fd; dead half-wools, s|d to 6£d; pelts, 3d to 4d. Hides: Ox light, 5d to s|d; cow heavy, 5d to s£d; medium, 5d to s£d; light, 5d to s£d; yearlings, s|d to 8d; calf light Ist, lOd to 10£ d; light second, 9£d to 10£J; cut, 8d to 9|d. Tallow: In drums Ist, 11s to 12s per cwt; in tins Ist, 6s to Bs.
