WOOL PRICES
HARDER IN BRADFORD
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, July 1. Intensive German and Japanese wool buying in Australia has caused prices to harden in Bradford, but there seems little prospect of the totalitarian taking normal quantities. Jacomb, Hoare, and Co., London, reviewing the close of the May London sales, remarked: "With the Government orders for military equipment dominating the market, at home, it was naturally not unexpected that slipes and woollen trade varieties would be in more demand than wools suitable for worsteds. Under the rearmament programme unemployment returns already show improvement and in due course it is more than likely that this will be reflected in a better demand from the civilian trade. But until the Continental and American markets show improvement, a general appreciation in values should not be expected."
