MILK FOR SCHOOLS
SUPPLY TO BE RECOM-
MENCED
On account of the extraordinary season there has been an autumn and early winter' milk shortage throughout the Dominion. Wellington has1 come through very well, household supplies never having to be reduced, but it has been necessary to abandon the school milk supply plan during the past two weeks. :
This morning, stated Councillor L. S. McKenzie, chairman of the milk committee .of the City Council, the position was further discussed, and it was decided to recommence the supply of milk to schools from Wednesday.- Normally at this time of the year milk supplies fell, but mild weather had reversed the order this season, and there had been an improvement on the very low production of recent months. The department, moreover, had gone much further out to obtain necessary supplies than in any' former year.
Whether it would be possible to maintain the school supply would depend upon the run of the weather, but every endeavour would be made to meet all requirements.
