NEWLANDS RESIDENTS

The Newlands branch of the Women's Institute held a meeting in the schoolroom recently. Mrs. Kettlewell, who presided, warmly welcomed all members and visitors. A report was read by the appointed delegate, Mrs. Knight, on the council meeting recently held at the Taita Hall. A short programme, including a dramatic play reading by the drama circle, was presented. The competitions were judged as follows:—Carrot jam, Mrs. Ring, 1; Miss Corn well,, 2. Flax baskets, Mrs. Fraser, 1; Mrs. Knight, 2.
