PARTY FOR DAUGHTER

Captain and Mrs. Curtis entertained some of their friends at their home recently in honour of their daughter Jean. The rooms were decorated with flowers and streamers. Mrs. Curtis was wearing " tailored gown of black satin relieved with emerald green, and Miss Curtis wore a dress of foxglove taffeta. Pongs were given by Mr. and Mrs. P-unf rey and Miss Curtis, and competitions were won by Mesdames Walton and Parsons, and Misses Joan Harper and Jean Riddle. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walton, Mr. and Mrs. Pumfrey, Mr. and Mrs. Parsons, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Edwards, Misses Joan Harper, Elsa Purdey, Jean Riddle, B. and M. Edwards, P. and J. Shearer (Masterton), and Messrs. N. East, R. Forbes, and B. Curtis.

Mrs. Jane Hocks, of Plymouth, celebrated her ninety-ninth birthday in October. She still reads, writes, and sews without spectacles.
