TIP FROM ONTARIO

ROADING LOOKS FORWARD

Modernisation ol Canada's highway system is going ahead at a rapid pace. A new road of the Ifour-lane, divided type has been laid on a wider right-of-way for a distance of forty miles between Hamilton and Toronto, and will soon be extended to Niagara Falls. The Province of Ontario makes it a practice to buy sufficient rights of way for future grade separations at points where it is at present economically unsound to build grade separations into new roads. Another modern Improvement is the widening of some three-lane highways to four lanes over crests of hills and the widening of. some two-lane roads to three lanes on heavy grades—two lanes for uphill tramp and one lane for downhill.

A simple method oi checking the water pump to see it it is working ls to speed up 'he engine and grip the tipper radiator hose firmly in the hand If the pump is working pressure should be felt in the hose as the water is forced through it.
