ROBINSON'S ESCAPE.
By the proverbial margin Edward G. Robinson was narrowly saved from serious injury recently during the filming of the Columbia picture, "I am the Law." The "near-accident" occurred while he was enacting a scene with Wendy Barrie, Otto Kruger, and John Beal, under the direction of Alexander Hall. Robinson plays the part of a "racket buster." While being inducted into the office of special prosecutor newsreel cameras started to turn, microphones were thrust at him. and photographer- ranged around with flash-cameras. Suddenly, as Robinson was beaming his pleasure, at all this to-do, a flash bulb exploded. Quickly, he lifted his arm and turned his back, avoiding the flying fragments. Then he remarked genially, "And underworld confetti, too." "I am the Law" was written by Jo Swerling. It is being produced by Everett Riskin.
