(By Telegraphi— Press -Vasonation.l »

INVERCARGILL, This Day.

Apart from a light shower the weather was fine for training at Invercargill this morning, but a howling westerly made conditions unpleasant and had the effect of slowing up horses between the six- and two-furlong posts. The work was done on the course proper, 24 feet from the rails, and rain overnight had left the track heavy.

Boswell and Doubleack ran a mile in lmin 53sec, the first half-mile in 55sec. They finished together and were under a good hold. BriUiant Boa, beat Western Song by a length over sev!en furlongs in lmin 42sec, the last half-mile.in 4 60 sec. Brilliant Boa was going nicely at the finish, and Western Song, who had a big weight, could have done better.

Sea Lady ran half a mile, in 53 2-ssec, and took lmin 54sec fcfr a mile; She pulled hard in the early stages and was not ridden out in the straight. Milford reeled off half a mile in 54 4-ssec. This was a nice effort in the going, (and. he was not asked for his best at any stage. ...

Gold Robe was going better than Bang's Chorus at the end of five furlongs in lmin llsec. King's Chorus pulled up lame and was in a bad way after i cooling out. ' Sailing Lady and Spendthrift ran six furlongs in lmin 22 2-ssec. This was easily the best six of the morning, and Sailing Lady was doing her work particularly well in front at the finish. Waitoru took Imin.l3sec for five furlongs, but he was doing* it cqmfortably, all.the way. Baltruin was held back to Bow Street at the end of a mile in lmin 54sec, the last half-mile in 57 l-ssec. Baltruin revelled in the going and could have done much better i

Ardmayle and Wild Career were running on strongly at the end of six furlongs in lmin 24 2-ssec, the last half-mile in 57 2-ssec. Ardmayle was a neck to the good at the finish. Amelita was going better than Galleon over a mile in lmin 55 4-ssec. Galleon was inclined'to slip about in the going. vMona's Song and Foxlove ran their, first half a mile in 55 3-ssec, and completed a mile and: a quarter in 2min 24 l-ssec. Foxlove handled the going satisfactorily and impressed more than his companion, who was slipping about ia bit.

I Ashaway and Moonraider did • the ibest five furlongs of the' morning to •.record lmin 10 4-ssec, and could have done-better. ;
