LATE MR. MICHAEL GUERIN
The funeral of the late Mr. Michael Guerin took place this morning, when a good muster of South African War veterans paraded at the mortuary chapel of E. Morris, Jun. The parade was in charge of Captain J. J. Clark, president of the Wellington South African War Veterans* Association, and Chaplain-Colonel D. C. Bates, the association's padre, officiated at the chapel and at the graveside in the South African Veterans' plot at Karori. The casket was draped with the Union Jack and the South African Veterans' flag, and the pall-bearers were represented by ex-members of the Grenadier, Coldstream, and Scots Guards and New Zealand Contingents. At the conclusion of the service at the graveside, members filed past and reverently dropped a South African daisy in the grave. Prior to entering hospital, Mr. Guerin was employed by the Public Works Department at Pukerua Bay, and several of his workmates attended the funeral.
