PERSONAL NOTES

Mrs. L. Lefeaux, who spent a week in Auckland on her return from England, is back in Wellington.

Mrs. Charles Cooper, Christchurch, has returned from a visit to the North Island, where she visited her sister, Mrs. W. M. Shahd, Wellington, and her niece, Mrs. F. Grotrian, Ashhurst.

Mrs. Frank Wall, Martinborough, is making a brief visit to Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Porter, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington this morning.

Mrs. M. M. Bell, Kelburn, visited Hastings for the wedding of her son, Mr. Robin Bell and Miss Alix Rochfort. She was accompanied by her daughter, Miss Marjory Bell, who was a bridesmaid.

Mrs. C. F. Jacobs, Auckland, accompanied by Mrs. Hay-Barclay, has arrived at Wellington by car from the north to attend the Scots College prize-giving.

Miss Vera Gapes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Gapes, of Karori, wais one of the party of New Zealand nurses which left by the Awatea last night for Johannesburg, South Africa. Before her departure Miss Gapes was the guest of Honour at farewell parties arranged by her many friends.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Otway, Wellington, are staying with Mrs. A. Wigley, Timaru.

Miss Phyllis Graham, Auckland, was among the nurses who left last night by the Awatea en route to Johannesburg.

Mrs. H. M. Bishop, Hastings, is visiting Wellington.

Mrs. Hugh Jackson and Miss B. Jackson, Wellington, are visiting Auckland.

Mrs. L. A. Brooks (Wellington) accompanied by her sister Mrs. J. B. McKnight (Ohingaiti), have left on a motor tour of the North Island.

Mrs. J. Coltman, Melbourne, is visiting Wellington and is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Mrs. A. H. Warren (Wairarapa), Mrs. W. Z. King and Miss E. Scott (Christchurch), Miss G. Adams-East (San Francisco) are among the guests at the Hotel St. George.

Guests at the Empire Hotel include Mrs. C. N. Bensel (Wanganui), Mrs. W. T. Slee (Westport), Miss M. Cathcart (Sydney), Mrs. J. P. Swain (Hawke's Bay), Mrs. I. Clulow (England), Mrs. A. R. Morrison (-Martinborough), Mrs. A. Abbott (Waverley).
