Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, returning to New Zealand via Canada. Mrs. Doctor and Lady Buckleton will be the representatives of Wellington Victoria League at the annual meeting to be held in London next year.
Lady Buckleton (past president), on behalf of the committees, presented Mrs. Doctor with an artistic work case. Lady Buckleton said that Mrs. Doctor would be greatly missed. She referred to the great progress made by the league under Mrs. Doctor's presidency, specially in the gathering together of the young people. Lady Buckleton said she felt that Empire work, such as was done by the league, as well as the work at home, was useful training for the younger people. She stressed the value of a united Empire, and said that anything any member of the league could do to help bind the Empire together should be done and with good will.
Lady Buckleton also presented Mrs. L. A. Williams with a token of remembrance and friendship, and assured her that all had appreciated her good work while honorary secretary of the league. The good wishes of all, she said, would follow Mrs. Williams to her new home in Melbourne.
Mrs. Doctor returned thanks for the delightful function given her and for the gift. She mentioned that Mrs. L. O. H. Tripp would act as president during her absence, and would be assisted by Miss Kane if necessary.
Mrs. Williams also thanked the league for the presentation, and said how much pleasure the work had given her. A pleasant party concluded with cordial farewells and good wishes to Dr. and Mrs. Doctor for a happy tour.
