TROPHIES FOR MARTON
Handsome trophies have been given by two stewards of the Marton Jockey Club for the gentleman riders^ events at the meeting, which will-be held on Monday and Tuesday, January 2 and 3 A canteen of cutlery valued at £15 has been donated j for the winner of the first day's Ladies; a race run under hack and on the second day of the meeting ttie Ladies' Necklace carries a similar troPh There are also trophies for the Marton Cup, 1J miles, and the Rangitikei Hack Cup, 11 miles. The Marton Cup trophy is a handsome oak chiming grandfather clock, standing six feet high. The Hack Cup trophy com. prises a silver tray, coffee-pot, teapot, hot-water jug, cream bowl, : and sugar bowl.
Catalogue is an unexpected nomination for the Manawatu Cup, in which Conveyer is also engaged. 4 : The three-year-old Disdain now looks like being the sprinter who will accompany The Buzzer to Ellerslie, as neither Oratory nor Laughing Lass has been entered for the later days at i Auckland, but Disdain has been nomiI nated for both the final days. Oratory and Laughing Lass are each entered for the Manawatu Meeting.
