LORRIES COLLIDE

EXTRAORDINArtY CRASH

FINISH ON RAILWAY LINES

An extraordinary lorry collision and results occurred on the Hutt Road yesterday afternoon. Plenty of damage was done, but none of the five men on the machines, one the property of the Wellington Gas Company and the other of the Barton Ginger carrying company, was hurt beyond shaking.,^ Both lorries were bound for lington, one from Lower Hutt and the other from the Onslow Road. They met in sidelong collision just at the Onslow Road intersection with a great crash, and the outer machine carried on, over the cycle track and through the fence on to the railway tracks.. An outward-bound train showed up in the too near distance for ease of mind, but the Hutt Road patrol went down the track at top speed and signalled the driver to stop. It was twenty minutes before the lorry was hauled clear. As the road was very busy at the time there was a great crowd of sightseers, none of them more interested than the youngsters on the delayed train,' excepting i always the drivers and passengers, still wondering how they got out of it unhurt.
