FRENCH ASSURANCE
MESSAGE TO TUNIS
NO INTERFERENCE WITH
PEOPLE'S LIBERTY
(Received December 7, 2.20 p.m.)
PARIS, December 6,
The Colonies Commission of the Chamber of Deputies passed a resolution unanimously protesting against the Italian 'claims, which threaten the integrity of the colonial empire, and also asked that foreign propaganda should not be tolerated. It decided to send a delegation to M. Daladier to ascertain what measures can be taken to protect North Africa, and addressed a message to the people of Tunis assuring them that France will not permit interference with the liberty of the peoples under the Tricolour.
A 8.8.C. broadcast in Italian, German, and French during the new session, stated: "A sequel to the demonstrations in the Italian Chamber of Deputies has been the virtual unanimity of the British Press and public opinion in support of the French protest against agitation in Italy on behalf of the cession of Tunis, Nice, and Corsica."
