PRICE OF BREAD

MAXIMUM FIXED IN N.S.W.

(Received December 6, 11.45 a.m.)

SYDNEY, This Day The State Government, by special proclamation, has fixed the maximum price of the 21b loaf of bread sold over the counter at s£d, as-against the sfd decreed by the Master Bakers' Association. As farthings are not in the currency this virtually represents a cut of a halfpenny in the increase of one penny fixed by the bakers to meet the £5 15s per ton excise tax on flour.
