DRINK AND DRIVING
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —In his strong appeal to motorists in launching Haad Safety Week, the Minister of Transport rightly says: "The motorist who drives after drinking may fee signiftg somebody's deathwarrant." In csrtfiMttation of this statement 1 would like to bring under the notice of esr-drivets a letter from a retired military man to the London j "Daily Telegraph"/* which 1 read when j in England recently. The letter in j question said it was the writer's experience that the effect of indulging in j i even one drink before driving was to make him f like taking a risk which he would not take had he not indulged. And because just to that extent was his judgment affected he had made it a rule never to drink until the end of the day's tour. Such a rule may require some selldenial on the part of motorists, 'but surely it is worth while when human life is at stake.—l am, etc.. W.F.K.
