Sir, —I cannot think that Mr. Austin's remark about a "foreign element" in your issue of Wednesday last reveals great breadth of vision, but leaving this question on one side, is it not a fact that Stokowski is a British musician? Although of Polish stock, I believe he was born in London and is a graduate of Oxford. A convention which exists, rightly or wrongly, in some circles, that tne British do not produce great musicians, has no doubt prompted Stokowski to emphasise his Polish connections.—l am, etc.,
