RUAHINE STREET
SCHEME CRITICISED
The Ruahine Street extension scheme was again adversely criticised at the monthly meeting of the Automobile Association (Wellington) last night in the report of the roads committee.
"The roads committee notes with a degree of satisfaction that proposals which were* made by the Automobile Association to the council for the widening of the Evans Bay Road have been placed before the council by the City Engineer, and there is every likelihood that this work will proceed in the near future," the report stated.
"In making this report the roads committee expresses concern that the extension of Ruahine Street was put in hand, and the position is made more unsatisfactory by reason of the fact that the construction of this extension will not be, carried out to the standard which was proposed by the council."
