On a trick" wicket, which gave bowlers the upper hand throughout the match, Waikato, in their first innings, made 263, the principal scorers being A. J. Aitken 85 not out and J. Everest 79 Bowling for Bay of Plenty, L R. Spring took four for 80 off 36 overs; R. Smith, three for 87; and B. Budd, two for 47. Bay of Plenty in their first innings made only 30 as a result of a great bowling feat by E. Everest, who took seven wickets for 15 off ten overs.
